Here at Brooks we’re big on the classics. But we also have a fondness for thinking outside the box. (Case in point: Without Brooks, the non-iron shirt would simply be non.) So we’re particularly excited to share a few favorites from our Red Fleece outerwear line. These double-duty coats boast the same traditional craftsmanship we’re known for, but they also offer something more. It’s fair to say that they defy categorization—and that’s what makes them so great.
Quilted Down Blazer
Imagine the love child of your favorite blazer and down parka, and you’ll get this coat. The body is made of breathable, fast-drying cotton filled with a layer of lightweight, oh-so-warm down. Nickel snaps at the front and wrists keep the warmth in on colder days and the collar pops for extra protection at the neck. Two flap pockets and an interior snap pocket are ideal for small sundries. Wear it just like a blazer with a scarf or add it under a topcoat for extra warmth.
Railroad workers started wearing jackets much like this one in the late 19th century. Our revamped version is a bit more refined, but no less warm or sturdy. The body is made of thick, durable cotton and then lined with our extra-lofty Sherpa fabric. Reinforced seams throughout ensure this coat is up to heavy wear and weather, and button tabs at the back and cuffs let you adjust the fit to keep the wind and cold from seeping in. Tuck your keys or wallet in the hidden interior zip pocket and pop the collar for extra warmth when it’s chilly. We suggest wearing this as an alternative to your usual sport coat with a sweater and tie.
Pendleton® Quilted Shirt Jacket
This handsome layer is part of an exclusive capsule collection created with Pendleton® Woolen Mills. We started with a traditional plaid shirt and turned it into a jacket, adding a slim layer of padded fill and a royal blue interior lining secured with diamond quilting. Elbow patches nod to a classic sport coat, as does the wool-lined interior pocket. The hook at the back yoke is a remnant from the style’s work wear roots, but it also makes it easier to hang and store quickly. Wear it with a sport shirt or sweater, or top it with a sports coat or puffer vest when temps drop.
