That moment when you realize summer’s end is approaching is a sobering one. But as we begrudgingly put away our seersucker and madras (old habits die hard), our editorial team began looking forward to fall. Reviewing our mood boards and sketches, we found that reluctance gave way to anticipation, so we leaned into it entirely—handpicking the pieces that stirred excitement for the change of seasons. While others may have their pumpkin-spiced confections and apple-scented candles, at Brooks, cable-knit sweaters, corduroy trousers and quilted vests are our seasonal mile markers.
For him: Our Vintage Bomber Jacket in classic navy single-handedly restored our sense of excitement for fall. Paired with our casual-yet-polished 5-Pocket Selvedge Twill Pants and Classic Gingham Sport Shirt, you have a look that is lightweight and seasonally appropriate.
For her: This tailored Floral-Embroidered Mini-Houndstooth Dress takes a soft feminine rose print and blends it with a traditional menswear pattern. Made from cotton, it is lightweight and cool for this transitional (i.e., unpredictable) time of year. It’s set in a dramatic shade of taupe-grey that had us thinking of overcast October days.
Suiting up for a new season never looked this good. Let us be perfectly clear: One of our favorite patterns—this and every season—is windowpane. The BrooksCloud Windowpane 1818 Suit is cast in a smart shade of navy with this bold, tonal pattern throughout. To give it a true fall feel, we paired it with our Mini-Dot Tie in a rich shade of brown. And the best part? Both suit and tie are crafted in our own USA-based facilities.
Layering is the trick to conquering fall style—and bonus points are awarded to those who can mix textures. That’s why we topped a chunky Marled Cable Half-Zip with our classic diamond-Quilted Vest. For a base layer, we chose an Indigo Chambray Sport Shirt because the cool blue tone of the fabric goes with everything—and looks great when the afternoon warmth requires the sleeves be rolled up.
Mother Nature can be fickle come fall. But we’ve found a way to counteract her mercurial nature—four, in fact. Our Water-Resistant Dobby Swing Coat, in lustrous navy, has a subtle dot pattern for a refined alternative to sheer functionality. Beneath it, a Shimmer-Stripe Cable-Knit Supima® V-Neck Sweater evokes nostalgia for those beloved back-to-school sweaters of our youth. And sure, denim is an all-season favorite of ours, but these dark-wash Ankle Pants, cut in an ultra-chic slim silhouette, have more polish than mere jeans could ever hope to offer. Last (but by no means least), our Signature Tartan Stick Umbrella is the perfect remedy for unexpected showers—and the timeless appeal of our very own tartan is never lost on us in any season.
