Black Fleece is taking its final bow. For its crowning performance, award-winning designer Thom Browne winks and nods at the boundaries of the American aesthetic in his distinctly original style. In the fall/winter 2015 collection, he again combines his signature fashion-forward flair with inspiration from the line’s debut, in 2007. Browne turns the final page of the story with a flourish of plaids, argyle prints and traditional Fair Isle and cable-knit sweaters.
Living up to its reputation for implementing uncommon fabrics, Black Fleece this season presents suiting in a rare wool-mink blend, in addition to dense wool and nubby textured knit wool. Vintage tweed, paisley lace and cashmere thermal knits are featured too. The line’s eye-catching color palette of navy, red and white returns with subtle notes of gray and tonal shades. And touching on the line’s kinship with classic Brooks Brothers, the Black Watch tartan punctuates the final formalwear collection.
